Modified Sharp Purser Test (MPT) is an easy, reliable test transverse ligament integrity and upper cervical stability. This test shoud only be performed if the practictioner believes the patient has ruptured the transverse ligament or prior to high velocity manipulations. If as the practitioner performs the Modified Sharp Purser Test the patient's symptoms improveme it is a "positive test". This test assists the practitioner in developing an appropriate treatment plan and determines the need for further diagnostic imaging, like X-rays or MRI, to confirm the diagnosis.
