Proximal
Proximal is a term used in anatomy to describe a location closer to the center of the body or the point of attachment. For example, the hip joint is located at the proximal end of the femur. Synonyms include central, medial, and near.
Proximal: An anatomical direction; closer to the trunk or center of the body. For example, the hip joint is at the proximal end of the femur.
