Joint Manipulation
Joint Manipulation: A high-velocity force applied to a joint with the intent of increasing passive arthrokinematic range and/or achieving a therapeutic effect. Generally, manipulations are performed with a small amplitude thrust and may result in cavitation and audible "pop" (Note, manipulations are referred to as "Grade V Mobilizations" in some publications).
- For example, chiropractors are likely most well known for lumbar spine manipulations. Some of the manipulation types or "schools" of manipulation include Diversified, Gonstead, Thompson, Palmer, etc.
