0:05 Alright so, you guys will see up here you want to eye up this bibliography I have 0:10 up here. Some of you guys might want to write some of these down. I'm on a 0:16 campaign, it's called the read of frickin book campaign. I don't know how many of 0:24 you guys are on social media, I don't know how many of you guys, you're going 0:28 to get involved in the politics over time with the fitness industry, and the 0:31 misinformation machine that is, as well as physical therapy, athletic training. 0:37 You're gonna get a lot of what has been made popular, which is bro science. You 0:43 guys know what bro science is? Dude what do you know, what do you know, look at your 0:49 biceps, the dude over there with the huge biceps he told me this is gonna work and 0:53 I believed him because he's huger than you are. Number one dude huger isn't a 0:59 word, number two read a frickin book right, like that's that's my campaign, and not 1:07 just any book, but a book with references, like citations, research. This is 1:16 important, you guys are going to soon realize that there is a lot of junk out 1:20 there. You need to be careful who you ascribe to, like if you want to we all 1:26 have gurus right. We all have mentors, you need to choose those wisely. Now i do 1:32 like books, i like textbooks a lot. I've read a lot of textbooks, not suggesting 1:37 you guys consume textbooks at the rate i consume textbooks, but think of if you 1:41 just started right now, well now you're in school, but if you just took one 1:45 textbook that you wanted to read on a topic that you like, and let's say you 1:50 have 90 days over the summer, and you decided to read five pages a day, you'd 1:56 finish the textbook in the summer right. Well by the end of your school year, by 2:00 the end of your bachelor's degree, you'd have four more text books read. How much 2:04 smarter would you be at the end, with consuming four more text books worth of 2:08 information. Here's the what I'm saying, and then if you keep that habit up after 2:13 you graduate, which is basically what I've done 2:17 right, you'll find that all of a sudden you have a library and Dr. Falenger can 2:22 attest, we had a business meeting over research project at my apartment in the 2:27 city, you walk into my apartment and what do you, what's the first things you 2:30 notice? The dog, I have a 21-pound giant Chihuahua, this is true, he's like this 2:38 right, very alpha, yeah I'll have to find some pictures for you 2:48 guys. He's a monster Chihuahua, after you get past the Chihuahua though, which you 2:52 notice in my living room is my bookcases, I just have tons of books, tons and tons 2:56 of books, and I'm still reading, still trying to consume information. So these 3:01 are some books that I thought you guys might want to start with. 3:05 They're expensive, one at a time guys. I'm not saying go and buy all these today, just 3:11 one book at a time. Start rifling through, Newman, any of you guys going into 3:16 athletic training, or physical therapy kinesiology of the musculoskeletal 3:20 system, foundation for physical therapy, probably the best kinesiology text I've 3:24 ever seen. It's beautifully written, it's gone through many many editions, very 3:30 well sided, tons of research. Holland she's functional anatomy of the limbs 3:38 and back, great pictures, great organization, very easy to read through 3:44 when you need information quick, like if you guys are writing papers for your 3:49 kinesiology classes. This is again more towards ETCs, and physical therapist, 3:55 Shirley Sahrmann diagnosis and treatment of movement impairments syndromes. 4:02 Saladin's a great one for you guys, this one should probably have been number one 4:06 up there, other than I think I tried to put them in alphabetical order. I think 4:12 Saladin is probably the most beautiful physiology book I've ever seen. Lots of 4:17 great pictures, again I like pictures. I know that sounds so anti my book 4:22 campaign, like I was just like super going like it has to have research, it 4:26 also has to have really pretty pictures, and really useful pretty pictures. I don't 4:30 know if you guys are visual thinkers, but I like to visualize stuff. So 4:36 Saladin is great, and then these guys I put on here because the three big 4:42 certifications and personal training, which I know is where some of you guys 4:45 are heading right, are the National Academy of Sports Medicine, for whom I 4:49 work. You have the American College of Sports Medicine, you guys have heard of 4:54 that ACSM, and then you have the National Strength and Conditioning Association, 5:00 NSCA. This is the first text book for the National Academy of Sports Medicine. This 5:07 is the first text book for the National Strength and Conditioning Association 5:10 and this is the textbook for the American College of Sports Medicine. 5:15 You guys cool with that. just some good starting points. I will make sure you 5:22 guys have my info at the end. if for some reason you guys ever need a reference a 5:27 text, a suggestion don't hesitate to email me. I'll make sure I give you more 5:34 suggestions than you can handle, and you guys will notice that the gross majority 5:39 of my articles, my publications, have tons of references, which is another thing for 5:45 you guys. Let me tell you a quick cheat for your papers, when your teacher goes 5:49 you need ten references, and you're like oh my god, here's what you do. You find 5:53 one paper with ten references in the back, and then you go steal their 5:58 references you look up those papers right, and then you on those papers 6:03 they'll be even more references. Yeah smart guy, smart guy right. You're just 6:12 mining data, that's all you're doing. It's that's not illegal, as long as you 6:16 reference it, and you have the article you're good. 6:25
