Muscle Cell

Muscle fibers, or muscle cells, are cells specialized to respond to stimulation with contraction (movement) and are relatively elastic. There are 3 types of muscle cells/tissues; skeletal (striated), cardiac, and smooth. Of the 3 types of muscle cells, skeletal muscle is the only type that allows for voluntary control. Synonyms include muscular cell and muscle fiber.
