Hinge
Hinge joints, also known as ginglymus joints, are synovial joints that allow movement in only one plane of motion due to the articulating surfaces fitting together in a hinge-like manner. Functioning similarly to the hinge on a door. Examples of these joints include the elbow, knee, and interphalangeal joints. Synonyms for the hinge joint include ginglymus joint and trochoid joint.
Hinge: A hinge joint (also called a ginglymus) is a synovial joint in which the articular surfaces fit one another in a way that is analogous to the hinge of a door.
