Lateral
Lateral is an anatomical direction that refers to a position that is further away from the midline of the body. For example, the lateral side of the leg is the side that faces away from the other leg. Synonyms include outer, peripheral, sideways, and edge.
Lateral: An anatomical direction; further from the midline of the body. For example, the anterior deltoid is lateral to the pectoralis major.
